The whole 'cloud' thing is a overrated and misused term mainly spun by marketers. It has been around as long as internet servers.

To me a full cloud experience is when you load your computing operating system off a dummy screen.

When your entire computer is hosted some-where else and you load an instance of that when you logon, this is what you I would call a real cloud situation, which relies on very good NBN to happen in this country.

I starting using drop box for my personal filing.
I pay some amount ($80/pa +/- from memory).

Allows me to access all my folders from my laptop or phone, and can log in from any desk top with internet access.
    I like its simplicity.

There may be better/cheaper alternatives around. But this is working for me right now.

Dropbox is one the fastest and well polished syncing tools out there compared to the other offerings.
I read that if Dropbox matches an identical file be it on your account (or anyone elses in their customer base) it won't be re-uploading it from your computer. This is a red flag on data matching / potential privacy issues. Just a thought, but nothings perfect.

For storage sure, but in 'cloud' discussions we're talking about actually running applications as well.
